Fav n' Run: Not A Crime

NOTE: Before bitchfitting, read these comments...

Ah yes, the good ol "Fav n' Run"... I can't how many stamps I've seen complaining about this process here, often making total asses of themselves. Granted, the ones that bite back aren't much better, but this stamp isn't one to be THAT offensive...

Let me just say that in my opinion and with my lifestyle, I believe that the ability to favorite a picture to comeback and comment later if you wish is something of a good thing. After all, not everyone can just stop their lives to give me attention on a little doodle I made (or a stamp even).

Also, if someone favorites something, then that means that they have some kind of appreciation that picture. After all, we all don't speak the same language, and some of us have different opinions on the matter, but in the end, a favorite is a favorite, and that goes around and gets it exposed to others who might actually say something about your work.

I'm not saying that commenting before you favorite is wrong, I'm just saying that it might not be convenient for some. Besides, as all facts prove, for every good, well thought out comment you get, you're gonna get four "nice lighting" or "kawaii desu" type comments, and I don't know about you, but I can't really work from something like that. Nobody can.

I think ultimately though you should remember this: Comments and Favorites are both tools, and you should be thankful if you get either of them, and be even more thankful if you manage to get both. Of course, you the artist must also take full advantage of the Artist's Comment box and give us reasons why we should comment. Having (...) doesn't really do much for us when we're browsing art.

And don't worry if you "fav n' run" this; comment only if you feel it actually means something.

Uh, not always.
There are people who fave pictures for other reasons and NOT because they actually appreciate them. Some of the reasons are:
- Hatefaving.
- For lulz (especially if the pictures contains sarcasm/bullshit/controversial stuff and/or the comments section contains drama.).
- Just to get popularity, without bothering to look well at the pictures they faved.

"Comments and Favorites are both tools, and you should be thankful if you get either of them."
Artists who DO want to improve and prefer feedback and critiques over faves would disagree with this. Although it's understandable if people can't comment because they can't think of anything to say (or they were busy at that moment.), faves don't let the artists know how to improve if they depict flaws nor show them tutorials.

I appreciate both comments and faves and I don't think fave-n-running should be a crime, BUT people should listen to both sides and think before using any excuse to not comment. I made a stamp regarding of this issue in my second account: overusedcupcakes.deviantart.co…
